In the town of Levigliani we find the famous Antro del Corchia, the largest karst cave in Europe, with its over sixty kilometers of underground tunnels and ramifications. The former silver mine was also recently visited. These are ancient quicksilver mines, or mercury, which were in operation until the first half of the twentieth century. It is assumed that the oldest part, which can be visited today, was excavated by the Romans over two thousand years ago.
